The new library is part of a community education initiative taking place in the county.
The first step in a new education and training centre in Westmeath has been completed.
The new Kinnegad Library opens its doors today after being repurposed from an old school house in the town through Project Ireland 2040 and Rural Regeneration funding.
Longford-Westmeath Education and Training Board will also be able to use the purpose built facilites to develop educational programmes for their academic year.
It will operate from reduced staffing hours from 10am to 5pm this week in order to finalise their new systems.
