Locals had branded it a 'nightmare' in an appeal lodged last year which has now been rejected.
An appeal against planning permission for a Laois pub beer garden, that has been labelled a nightmare by local residents, has been rejected.
The Railway Bar, on the Station Road in Portlarlington secured planning permission from Laois County Council for the retention of their beer garden, and car park in October.
Residents in the area lodged an appeal in December, saying they had been "living in a nightmare" for many years because of the development.
Their appeal insisted that the building was less a pub and more a defacto night club with and people could no longer sleep on weekend nights because of it.
An Bord Pleanala granted permission for the retention of the beer garden subject to eight conditions.
