The Garda Representative Association estimates it will take at least twenty new Gardai to bring the Athlone district alone back up to standard.

It's the second time in three months that the region has been overlooked and the association say it's deflating for those on the ground.
Five new recruits have been assigned to stations in Laois and Offaly, with over 400 being stationed across the country since November.
