North Midlands Credit Union is joining the Home Energy Upgrade Loan Scheme.
Homeowners in Westmeath will now be able to access affordable retrofit loans from their Credit Unions.
North Midlands Credit Union is the latest lender to join the Home Energy Upgrade Loan Scheme.
The scheme provides unsecured loans ranging from €5,000 to €75,000, with repayment terms of up to 10 years, with interest rates starting at 4.2%.
Just under 65,000 people are serviced in Mullingar, Castlepollard, Kinnegad, Rochfortbridge, Longford, and Lanesboro Ballyleague in the North Midlands region.
Tom Allen, manager of the North Midlands Credit Union Mullingar, says it's a long term aim for credit unions to be involved in the mortgage space:
