By the end of the year, the council is expected to have delivered 1,227 homes across Offaly.
Offaly is on track to exceed its 2026 housing targets.
During the most recent Offaly County Council meeting, a presentation outlined the progress made in housing development across the county.
By the end of the year, the council is expected to have delivered 1,227 homes across Offaly.
A total of 145 housing allocations has been completed to date, with up to 40 more expected to be finalised by the new year.
The majority of councillors welcomed the news that the county was ahead of its projected targets for the year.
However, Sinn Féin Councillor Aoife Masterson believes the targets set for Offaly are not ambitious enough.
She argued that a council which is "willing and able" to deliver housing, and has a strong track record of developing homes, should receive greater government support to meet higher targets.
Councillor Masterson said the current targets do not adequately reflect the county's growing population.
She believes the government should take this growth into account when setting future housing targets, allowing the council to increase delivery and better meet the demand for homes across Offaly:
