Gardaí are appealing for information.
A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Offaly this morning.
It occurred on the R440 at Syngefield, Birr, at approximately 10am.
The man, in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to Midlands Regional Hospital, before being transferred to Beaumount Hospital, where his condition is understood to be serious.
The scene was examined by the forensic collision investigations and the road has since reopened to traffic.
