Councillors met with Department officials today about plans to open a direction provision centre in Tullamore.
The Department of Justice says the Marian Hostel in Tullamore won't have its full capacity of 168 residents until the end of May.
During a meeting with Offaly County councillors today, officials told the public reps the premises which is being turned into a Direct Provision Centre will be renovated before the asylum seekers move in.
Fianna Fail's Tony McCormack says there has been a lack of information and communication about the decision to house up to 168 people in the building on High Street.
He says the service provider Bridgestock Care laid out their plans for the facility:
