Liam Finlay's due for release from Midlands Prison this week after serving his sentence.
An Offaly man, who is banned from his own county after threatening to kidnap, rape, and murder young women, will walk free from prison this week.
51 year old Liam finlay was sentenced to 15 years at Tullamore Circuit Court after admitting to charges of making the threats to teenage girls.
Mr Finlay described himself as the ‘beast of all sex beasts’ in a letter sent to Athlone Garda Station, according to the Irish Independent.
In another letter to Birr Garda Station he detailed acts of sexual violence against a daughter he never had over a four year period.
He also falsely claimed to have attacked and killed missing women Deirdre Jacob and Fiona Pender, and wrote about stalking teenage girls from the Midlands.
Gardaí at the time believed they were in a race against time to identify the man behind the letters.
Eventually, Mr Finlay was identified following extensive analysis of CCTV footage.
A search of his Tullamore home revealed a 'rape kit' as well as books about Graham Dwyer's trial.
Dwyer was convicted of murdering Elaine O'Hara in 2015.
Finlay told Gardaí he never intended on carrying out any of the violent acts he described, however during his 2018 trial a psychiatrist said he had a sexual sadism disorder and was at significant risk of re-offending.
He's due to be released from Midlands Prison this week after serving his time in both Arbour Hill prison and in Laois.
However he is barred from the Midlands, under the terms of his sentence, he can not return to his home county Offaly, or Westmeath and Laois.
