A new report from Switcher.ie is highlighting the deposit saving times and shows timelines have lengthened compared to last year.
It would take an average of 12 years, 7 months for a sole buyer in Offaly to save their deposit, whereas in Laois it takes 12 years, and 9 months, and in Westmeath the wait is 16 years and 1 month.
In areas around Dublin and Galway it takes over 35 years.
Many first time buyers are reliant on help to buy schemes and grants, which often require them to purchase a new build.
