Offaly Vintners' Welcome Row Back On Total Ban On Takeaway Pints

The issue has erupted following footage of people drinking on the streets.

The government is considering introducing fines for people who gather to drink alcohol outside.

Senior ministers are meeting this morning to consider the measure to curb the spread of Covid 19.

It’s after footage emerged on social media of large groups of people drinking and socialising on the streets of Cork and Dublin over the weekend.

The chairperson of the Offaly Vintners' Federation is welcoming the government's decision to row back on a total ban on takeaway pints.
