Offaly Ógra Fianna Fáil is calling for the Athlone-Galway Greenway to go through Shannonbridge.
A public consultation is currently underway to select one of five possible routes for the final section of the cycleway to connect Dublin and Galway.
The youth wing of the party is appealing to the public to choose Route 4 or 5, which could encompass other tourist attractions in the area like Clonmacnoise monastic site and Lough Boora.
