Oireachtas Committee Identifies "Anomalies" In PUP Scheme

A delegation from the department in charge of it will be questioned today.

The Department of Social Protection will be questioned by TDs and senators today on why many self-employed people can't get the pandemic unemployment payments. 

The Oireachtas social protection committee says it has identified several anomalies with the scheme. 

To date, 4.3 billion euro has been handed out to hundreds of thousands of people who lost their jobs during the pandemic. 

But committee chair, Roscommon/Galway TD Denis Naughten says many sole-traders are still losing out:
