Over 3,600 Midlands children are being denied access to Irish speaking secondary schools.
That's according to An Foras Pátrúnachta who says Department of Education figures show 12% of parents in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath say they'd like their children's school to operate through Irish.
Currently, there is no Gaelcholaiste in the region.
An Foras Pátrúnachta believes that the Department needs to put in place a blueprint to provide Irish-speaking education at primary and secondary level.
