INMO figures show 28 patients are on trolleys in the midlands hospitals - 16 of those are in Mullingar, with the remaining 12 in Portlaoise.
Around Ireland, 502 are in emergency departments, while 168 are in wards.
University Hospital Limerick is the worst affected by overcrowding, with 90 patients on trolleys.
That's followed by 74 at Cork University Hospital, and 56 at University Hospital Galway.
