The funds go towards the Disabled Person Grant and Improvement Works in Lieu scheme.
Over €1.9 million is being allocated to local authorities in the Midlands to address the needs of older people, people with a disability and overcrowding.
It will go towards the Disabled Persons Grant which funds modifications like stair-lifts, ramps and downstairs spaces to allow people with mobility needs to live independently.
It also goes to the Improvement Works in Lieu scheme which allows works to be carried out on a privately owned house where the applicant has been approved for social housing.
In Offaly, the figure is €790,000, Laois gets just under €600,000 and Westmeath will receive just under €550,000.
The Housing Department covers 90% of the cost, with the local authority covering the remaining 10%.
It's part of a €23 million investment nationally.
