€40m has been announced for works across the country.
Over €3.5m has been allocated to the midlands for the repair and improvement of rural roads and laneways.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys announced national funding of €40m under the Local Improvement Scheme.
Offaly has been granted the highest in the region, at over €1.2m, followed by Westmeath and Laois at €1.1m.
Minister Humphreys says this is a critical source of funding for small, non-public roads:
