Ryan Tubridy and Noel Kelly have been grilled by TDs and Senators at the Public Accounts Committee.
Ryan Tubridy has slammed "untruths" at the heart of the story provided by RTÉ in relation to payments made to him.
Addressing the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, Ryan Tubridy said a fog of confusion has been placed over the issue, and this is an issue of RTÉ over declarations rather than over payments.
Tubridy's agent Noel Kelly says RTÉ officials weren't as in the dark as they claimed:
Sinn Fein TD Imelda Munster questioned Noel Kelly as to why the €75,000 hidden payments to Ryan Tubridy paid through the barter account were labelled as "consultancy fees":
Ryan Tubridy says he had absolutely nothing to hide about his salary and recent commentary has made him sound complicit in hidden payments.
Mr. Tubridy also hit out at RTÉ's behaviour in the past three weeks under questioning from Fianna Fáil TD Cormac Devlin:
Last week, RTE's Interim Deputy Director General Adrian Lynch said it was a possibility Ryan Tubridy stepped down from the Late Late Show as a result of the revelations to come.
However, Mr. Tubridy, under questioning from Independent TD Verona Murphy, described it as incorrect:
Ryan Tubridy's agent has told an Oireachtas Committee lots of lies have been told about his client.
Noel Kelly laid the blame for the misreporting of Mr. Tubridy's salary squarely at the feet of RTÉ and said they had nothing to do with it.
Ryan Tubridy outlined seven untruths he believes have been told during the course of the last three weeks.
This included RTÉ saying it pushed back on guaranteeing the Renault deal of €75,000 a year while also providing an email saying it was happy to proceed with the arrangement.
Mr. Kelly ws also questioned by PAC Chair and Laois Offaly Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley on who the 'real' Director General of RTÉ is:
RTÉ staff had hoped today's proceedings would offer more clarity over the payments to Ryan Tubridy.
However, former midlands correspondent Ciarán Mullooly says a lot of questions are still going unanswered:
