Approximately 60 staff at Tullamore Regional Hospital are absent due to covid-19.
The Clinical Director of Tullamore Regional Hospital is reminding the public that the course of the virus is in our hands.
The number of covid patients being treated in midlands hospitals has risen to 81 today, with 11 patients in a critical condition.
In Tullamore Hospital, approximately 60 staff are absent due to covid-19.
But Clinical Director, Seán Johnston says experience of working through the pandemic and cancelling elective procedures is helping them cope.
He says the key to alleviating pressure on hospitals is controlling the virus in the community:

If you have to attend the ED in emergency situation please ensure that if you have tested positive for Covid-19 please ensure you call the Hospital before attending to alert them to this information. When you arrive, please wear a mask, practice social distancing and ensure you tell the triage personnel also.
Importantly, please do not delay in seeking medical attention if you suspect you are having a heart attack or stroke. Our ED Services are available to you, please dial 999 or 112 in an emergency. For routine matters please contact your GP or out of hours by phone.
The Hospital would like to acknowledge the continued support of its community since the beginning of this pandemic. We are seeing encouraging decrease in Covid-19 cases in the Community so please continue to stay at home, stay safe by washing your hands, wearing a mask and maintaining physical distance and staying apart from vulnerable members in our community, we appreciate this is difficult, but it can save them from potential illness or tragically death.
