The incident involved a pedestrian and car in Abbeyleix last night.
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in County Laois.
It happened on the Main Street of Abbeyleix last night close to 7 o'clock.
The man, who was in his 70's, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore where he was pronounced dead.
The road has since reopened following a technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6.30pm and 7:30pm yesterday evening are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
