Pharma Giant Set To Take Over Offaly IDA Site

New jobs are set to be created over the next few months.

Staff being let go from an Offaly medical device plant will be unaffected by the news a new pharmaceutical company will be taking over the premise.

Steris will be buying the soon to be vacant Cardinal Health plant in the Sragh Business Park in Tullamore.

The deal is expected completed by June, with Cardinal Health expected have wound down its operations by then.

It had employed around 350 staff up to August of 2024 when its decision to close was announced.

Offaly TD Tony McCormack says some staff are being kept on to help Cardinal Health's operations in Costa Rica and Mexico:

Independent TD for Offaly, Carol Nolan is welcoming the news saying:

"It is vital that the site remains in active industrial use to further strengthen Tullamore as a hub for med-tech and life sciences in the Midlands.

It's very positive news for the town, for Offaly and for the hundreds of families who rely on quality manufacturing jobs in our community.”
