Politics should be about normal people on the basis of merit, not 'celebrity' status.
That's the view of Aontú Leader and Meath West TD Peadar Toibín, after he failed to claim a seat in the Midlands North West constituency in the European Elections.
He says 'celebrity' is a massive currency in the EU race, following the election of former jockey, Fine Gael's Nina Carberry, and former RTÉ Correspondent, Ciaran Mullooly, who's flying the Independent Ireland banner.
