Postmasters' Union Warning Of Potential Collapse Of Postal Service

They want the introduction of a Public Service Obligation.

The Irish Postmasters' Union is warning that the postal service in Ireland could collapse in the coming years if no action is taking by the incoming government.

They're calling for the introduction of a Public Service Obligation to avoid hundreds of site closures in the coming years. 

Top up payments starting at €1,000 are currently being paid to post offices across Ireland, including the midlands, but are due to end in 2021. 

IPU Midlands Spokesperson Tommy Hickson says any closures will further harm rural towns and businesses:
