Multyfarnham woman, Anne Drury lobbied for a €10 to €15 rise in today's budget.

A five euro increase to the state pension doesn't go far enough to protect older people from poverty.

That's the view of Anne Drury, president of Active Retirement Ireland, which had lobbied for a €10 to €15 rise in today's budget.

The Multyfarnham woman says while lowering the drug payment scheme threshold to €100 and boosting the fuel allowance by €5 are welcome, the budget doesn't contain enough to give older people a good quality of life:
