Values in Westmeath rose at the second highest rate in Ireland.
The average price for a house in the Midlands increased by 8.5% in the last twelve months.
However nearly all of that growth is in the property market of one county.
The value of property in Westmeath grew at the second highest rate in the country in 2019.
A surge of 8% put it 0.5% behind Waterford who led the way.
The average property price in the Lake County is now E195,000.
Elsewhere in the region, values remained stable.
There was a rise of half a percent in Offaly.
That leaves the median cost of a home there at E180,000.
A E5,000 surge in the first quarter of 2020 leaves Laois in the same position as this time last year.
The average cost of buying in the O'Moore county remains at 185,000.
All three counties remain well below the median price nationwide, which stands at E252,400.
