Refurbished Midlands Building Wins Award For Conservation

It took two years for the work to be completed.

A public building in the midlands has been awarded a silver medal for architectual conservation.

The refurbished Library in Abbeyleix was built in 1836 but refurbished between 2008 and 2010.

The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland silver medal is the highest award for buildings that have undergone conservation work.

The decision on the winners is not made until years after refurbishment so that the success of the development can be confirmed over time.
