Renewable Energy Approach In Westmeath Is Biased - Fine Gael

A Fine Gael Councillor believes wind energy is getting preferential treatment.

Planning Permission is being sought for a 110 kV solar substation in the midlands.

A 38 kV substation has already been approved in the same area of Clonardis and Slanemore, though no construction has commenced as of yet.

Westmeath councillor Andrew Duncan believes the latest application is with the intent of a larger wind energy development in the region.

The Fine Gael councillor says he has concerns over the rationale of applying for a substation that is almost three times bigger:
