The Eastern region saw the highest increase.
The number of reported robbery, hijacking and extortion incidents rose by 18% in the first four months of the year.
CSO figures show the Eastern region, which includes Laois, Offaly and Westmeath, saw the largest increase, at 24%.
The region also saw one of the greatest jumps in theft, fraud and robbery, when compared to the same time in 2023.
However, it did see a 14% decrease in sexual offences.
