Residents of a Laois housing estate are raising concerns around a recent surge of rats in the area.

Parents have seen rats emerge from a pond at the entrance to Esker Hills in Portlaoise and run onto green areas where their children play.

Local reps are set to meet with the environment section of Laois County Council, as a similar issue was recently reported in the Fairgreen estate.
