That's the message from the Mullingar Chamber for Economic Development, Investment and Tourism as the smaller scale companies struggle to adapt to rising employment costs.
Recently introduced measures include a recent rise in the minimum wage and an incoming increase in statutory sick leave days.
Some measures being considered to support smaller businesses include changes to the threshold rates for employers' PRSI and a pause on the introduction of increased sick leave.
