Sinn Féin Hitting Out At Government Over Parental Leave Proposals

Longford-Westmeath's Sorca Clarke says new mothers during lockdown need to be supported.

The government's coming under fire for its plans to help new mums who had a baby during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Under its proposals, parents who had babies after November 1st 2019 are to be given an extra three weeks paid leave next year.

Sinn Féin is calling for a 3 month extension for women whose maternity leave is due to expire.

Longford-Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke says new mums deserve the extra time as they've had to deal with a lack of services during the pandemic:
