Sinn Féin are using their final Dáil motion of this Government to call for the means test for carers to be scrapped.
The party also want to see all changes to the means test threshold in Budget 2025 brought forward to January, in line with other social welfare payments.
The cost would amount to around 380 million euro annually, according to figures from Family Carers Ireland and the Parliamentary Budget Office.
