The South Westmeath Hospice Committee is warning the future of the facility is not yet secure.
Committee Secretary Joe Whelan says the last four months have just been a stay of execution and is criticisng the HSE's dis-engagement on the issue.
There are continued fears that the service will be downgraded and a new building in Clonbrusk will not match the current capacity.
Mr. Whelan says its an issue that must be raised with politicians on the doorsteps:
The occupancy rate of the facility is almost double an original HSE estimate.
The health service initially said residency was 35% - figures released by the HSE to the South Westmeath Hospice Committee confirm it's actually 65%.
The low occupancy rate is being used to justify a move to a new unit in Clonbrusk.
