A High Court decision has mandated the removal of 32 individuals from an asylum seeker centre in Athlone.
A Westmeath Councillor says the State has embarrassed itself over its opposition to a planned IPAS centre in Westmeath.
It comes as the High Court orders the removal of 32 residents from the grounds of an asylum seeker accommodation centre in Athlone.
The site has been the subject of a long-running dispute over a planned 1,000 person capacity centre that was halted late last year after the State conceded it did not have the appropriate planning and environmental details in place.
Fianna Fail rep in Athlone, Aengus O'Rourke says the government has repeatedly failed to produce draft legislation promised to address the issue:
