A man in his 70s was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore after being assaulted by two people at his home in Athlone in the early hours of Saturday morning.
He received treatment for non-life threatening injuries, and a sum of cash was also taken from his house during the incident.
Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the aggravated burglary.
They are asking anyone who was travelling in the Ballykeeran/Glasson Road area of Athlone between 1:00am and 5:00am who believe they may have seen something out of the ordinary, to come forward.
