The community of Banagher gathered to remember Mihai and Denisa Mihaela Chinez this morning.
A funeral mass in Offaly has heard a family has had "a future of bright opportunities snatched from their grasp".
Mihai and Denisa Mihaela Chinez originally from Romania lost their lives following a workplace incident at Banagher Concrete on Monday.
Father Patrick Kiernan officiated the mass this morning in St Rynagh's Church in Banagher.
He described how Mihai and Denisa got up and headed to work on Monday, alongside Mihai's wife Angela and Denisa's boyfriend Liviu who also worked with them in Banagher Concrete.
He said things were starting to look up for the family:
The priest also stated that day marked both the 87th birthday of Mihai's mother, and Mihai and Angela's 26th wedding anniversary.
Plans had been made during their morning break in the canteen to buy a cake after work to mark both occasions.
Father Kiernan added he'd loved cars, and had been excited to purchase his first one in Ireland recently.
While Denisa was remembered as person "with a big warm generous heart" known for her volunteering:
Father Kiernan extended his sympathies to all their loved ones, referencing the song "You'll Never Walk Alone":
Denisa will be laid to rest in St. Rynagh’s Cemetery, meanwhile Mihai’s cremation will take place at a later date, with his ashes to be eventually buried alongside his daughter.
