Schools will receive an extra €17 million in capitation grants under the Budget.
The General Secretary of the Teachers Union of Ireland says education requires sustained, long-term investment.
A €17m increase in capitation grants was announced for schools in the Budget, including €2m extra for DEIS schools, resources for 2,339 additional SNAs and 1,353 extra teachers next year, and a €150 reduction in the student contribution fee.
