Laois County Council will deliver their decision next month.
Plans have been lodged in Laois for an extensive upgrade on one of its waste water treatment plants.
Uisce Eireann is applying for permission to develop the existing waste water plant on the Ridge Road in Portlaoise.
The works would see the service capacity of the plant increase from around 39,000 people, to 45,000.
The works will include the delivery of multiple new tanks along with the decommissioning and demolition of two existing 'final settlement' tanks.
There's also provision for related infrastructural works including internal roads, security fences, and an electrical supply upgrade.
A decision is due from Laois County Council on the 20th of July this year.
