Westmeath Councillor Wants Illegal Dumpers Named And Shamed

Its after she found rubbish on a local Greenway last weekend.

A Westmeath county councillor believes the "naming and shaming" of illegal dumpers on the local authority website is a viable option to reduce such activity.

Green Party's Hazel Smyth is working with the Data Protection Officer to develop a impact assessment on the pros and cons of such a measure.

The Mullingar rep who came across rubblish on the Greenway on Sunday believes it's terribly unfair on the community to see a precious facilty being used in this way. 

She says there are no excuses and action is now needed:
