The product is €25,000 cheaper than the system used in hospitals.

An old tobacco factory in Westmeath is being used to help save lives around the world with new ventilator technology.

Irish Manufacturing Research in Mullingar has been designing a system that has minimal moving parts, compared to the regular pump apparatus.

The estimated cost of the product is €5,000, versus the system used in hospitals, which typically costs €30,000.

CEO Barry Kennedy says this technology has better patient outcomes and is more accessible in poorer parts of the world:
