Westmeath Falls Behind On Active Travel Infrastructure

The county produced just over one kilometre of cycle lanes or walkways.

The local authority in Westmeath is among a number of counties to have delivered the least amount of active travel infrastructure in 2024.

The Irish Independent is reporting Westmeath, Roscommon, Leitrim, and Clare produced just over one kilometre of cycle lanes or walkways last year.

While Galway County Council, Sligo, and Mayo failed to complete any active travel infrastructure despite funding being available.

Cork City and County, along with Dublin City, and Limerick topped the list.
