Mary Nevin caused a number of injuries to a Garda.
A court has heard a Westmeath grandmother had to be dragged off a defenceless female Garda after swinging her around and causing her head to smash onto a car bonnet.
55 year old Mary Nevin with an address at Columb Drive, Mullingar, Westmeath caused a number of injuries to Garda Nora Cloherty including to her jaw, neck and back during the incident in August 2023.
The court heard the affected areas were her neck resulting in reduced movement, along with her back and scratches to her chest.
The Irish Independent reports it had left Garda Cloherty still unable to return to full time frontline duty.
Ms Nevin had been among a group of individuals arguing in a public area on August 8th 2023 in O'Growney Drive in Mullingar, when Gardai arrived, and tried to arrest a number of male suspects.
She continued to yell at them to "get off" the group of men.
Ms Nevin then swung Garda Cloherty 180 degrees into the bonnet, and was found on top of her on the ground with her hands around her neck, before being pulled off by Public Order Unit members.
During a statement at Mullingar Garda Station, she said she'd been dealing with mental health difficulties, increasing reliance on prescribed medication.
Her barrister read her apology to court, with the judge applying section 1 (2) of the Probation Act and ordered Ms Nevin to enter into a 12-month peace bond.
€500 in compensation offered by Ms Nevin was directed to be handed over to the Garda founded charity, Little Blue Heroes.
