Westmeath Malaga Victim "Leaves Behind A Legacy Full Of Love"

Michaela Newcombe remains are being cremated at Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan this afternoon.

A young Westmeath woman who lost her life in a crash in Malaga has left behind a legacy full of love and treasured memories.

Michaela Newcombe's funeral mass took place at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar this morning.

Father Phil Gaffney describes the sense of shock following Michaela Newcombe's passing in Malaga at the end of last month.

Michaela, Mark McCullagh Crichton, and Amy McCullagh all lost their lives when the car they were travelling broke through a barrier on the Spanish motorway.

Mourners in Mullingar this morning heard how her friends and family will always remember her friendly face, her unforgettable smile and that she had a rare radiant gift for lighting up every room.

Her world revolved around her family, especially her nanny and grandad.

She moved in with them at the age of three, and her nanny was always her best friend, her grandad was the chauffeur.

However Father Gaffney said all along she loved her parents without measure.

Michaela's family brought gifts to the alter of the cathedral to symbolise the life she led.

There was a picture of her family, a teddy bear her mobile phone, a hair straightener, a make up bag and her favourite coat.

Michael's family asked Father Gaffney to thank the Mullingar community for the extraordinary support they've received over the last ten days.

Fr Gaffney said this in response:

Mark McCullagh Crichton's Funeral Mass takes place in Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullignar at 2pm.

Amy McCullagh's funeral is tomorrow at the Church of the Nativity in Ballynacargy at 11am.
