Westmeath Olympian Describes Being Recruited For Ireland's First Bobsleigh Team

He represented Ireland at the Winter Olympics in France.

A Westmeath Olympian says his recruitment to the first ever Irish bobsleigh team was akin to a modern day internet scam.

Athlone's Gerry Macken was an accomplished rower before he was headhunted in 1986, when his future coach left a note on his locker at a regatta.

He went on to represent Ireland at the Winter Olympics in France in 1992.
