A group of residents in Athlone are voicing their opposition to a significant housing development in the town.
426 homes are set to be built in Coosan, after an application was fast-tracked to An Bord Plenála through the new Strategic Housing Development scheme.
The Residents Association of The Glen, a nearby housing estate, is hugely concerned at the scale and density of the project, and the impact such a volume of people would have on local services and roads.
One resident, Eimhin Griffith, says they're submitting objections to An Bord Pleanála as the proposal is devoid of thought or any long-term planning:
