Colaiste Mhuire has availed of funding from the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.
A Westmeath school has been given approval for a major upgrade.
The refurbishment of Colaiste Mhuire comes as part of the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.
The significant plans will see a host of new rooms added to the existing school building.
They include four science labs and two shared prep areas, an art room and project store, and four SEN bases, which will provide classes for children with special education needs.
The school will also see the addition of a new home-ec room.
As part of the development, two of the existing science labs will be converted to mainstream classrooms, while the current home-ec room will be reconfigured to a multi-media room.
The existing sports hall will be refurbished, with one bay and the flat roof set to be demolished to allow for the extension.
