The Umma More Renewable Energy Development will see nine turbines erected, each spanning 185 metres in height.
A new windfarm could be coming to the midlands soon.
Plans for a new nine-turbine site at Umma More, near Moate, have been submitted to An Bord Pleanála.
The Umma More Renewable Energy Development will see nine turbines erected, each spanning 185 metres in height.
The developer is seeking planning permission for 10 years for the project, which aims to be operational for 30 years from the date it's commissioned.
18 separate landowners in Westmeath have granted permission for the use of their land for the development of the new wind farm.
The Umma More website states the proposed development will provide a significant contribution to Ireland's renewable energy targets, and will also create local jobs and provide investment to the area.
The move has already been met with criticism, and a Facebook page entitled No to Wind Farm In Ballymore, Drumraney, Moyvoughley area has been established to raise awareness of the development.
