Organisers say they haven’t yet raised enough money to cover the costs.
The 'Win A House In Enfield' draw, which is raising funds for a new community centre in the midlands - has been postponed for a year.
The draw, organised by Killeigh Community Centre Development Association, was due to be held this coming Monday, January 3rd 2022.
However, the Association says they haven't raised enough money to cover the costs associated with the raffle and have gad to make "the difficult decision" to defer it until December 19th 2022.
The raffle's main prize is an A-rate, three-bed house in Enfield or €300,000 in cash.
The decision has led to some disappointment among ticket-holders and speculation as to why the draw was delayed.
Speaking to Midlands 103, the Association's PRO, Martina Larkin Gorman was quick to confirm that all sold tickets remain valid.
She said sales have been continuing up to Christmas and they're just short of breaking even.
The Asssociation has confirmed construction on the community centre in Killeigh will begin next year.
Below is the full statement the Association sent to all ticket-holders, notifying them of the date change:
Thank you for purchasing a ticket in our Killeigh Community Centre Development Association Win A House In Enfield fundraiser. Your support will help raise much-needed funds for the greater Killeigh area.
Our draw was scheduled to take place on January 3rd, 2022. Unfortunately, as we haven’t yet raised enough to cover the costs associated with the draw, we have made the difficult decision to defer the draw until December 19th, 2022. This doesn’t affect you as a ticket holder and all sold tickets remain valid.
Instead, our decision presents even more opportunity for you to win. In 2022, we will be having a minimum of 10 new bonus draws, giving you 10 new chances to win cash, free tickets and other prizes!
Killeigh Community Centre Development Association (KCCDA) was established in February 2018 with the objective to develop a Community Centre to meet the needs of the whole community, both young and old. We are committed to this objective, and, with your support, we will be able to do this from the funds we are raising from our draw to win a house in Enfield or €300,000 cash.
Once again, thank you for your support and the very best of luck in our fundraiser.
Thanks,
The Killeigh Community Centre Development Association
