Works are currently underway to fix the fault impacting customers Castletown Geoghegan, Ballinagore, Kilbeggan, Horseleap and the surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann expect works to be complete by 9pm tonight.
People are being advised it can take 2-3 hours for the normal supply to be fully restored.
