Last year's beaten finalists were pegged back by Gorey Community School midway through the second half after leading by just two points at the break.
It took a goal-scoring intervention from captain Cillian Bourke to put the Offaly school back in front.
The final score was 2-12 to 1-7.
Moate Community School and Colaiste Mhuire Mullingar will be hoping to join Colaiste Choilm in the last eight.
The Moate side face Clane today at noon, that game takes place in Moate.
While Mullingar are against St Fintan's High School at Shandonagh GAA at 12.30 tomorrow.
