Romanian defeats Paortlaoise man
There was a shock defeat for Portlaoise's former super-bantamweight World champion TJ Doheny last night on his return to the ring when he lost to the almost unheard of Romanian Ionut Baluta in Dubai.
The decision was a unanimous verdict as Doheny was deducted a point after throwing his opponent to the ground in the eighth and final round.
The Romanian started the fight well and although the Laois man came back into the proceedings late on, he never dominated his opponent and the result is a huge setback to his chances of regaining the World title
